If you are a new blogger who is still working on building up a blog from scratch, all the different aspects of it can be really overwhelming. There is the technical part of the website, content creation, keyword research and getting traffic to your blog that keep you up at night, to name a few things.
Then you realize there is something that all the other bloggers keep talking about, but you don’t know how it works or where to go to get started. It seems so overwhelming that you don’t even want to think about it.
That one thing for me was email marketing. It looked like a feat I would never be able to accomplish. And as a new blogger, I didn’t have a lot of money to invest in email marketing services. Those things are expensive (as is everything in life). I thought that it was just something that I would have to live without.
Until I found Benchmark. My favorite email marketing service for new (or even seasoned) bloggers. But before I go on babbling about what Benchmark is and what they do, let’s take a look at what email marketing is and why it’s good for your blog or business.
*Please note that this article contains affiliate links. This means that if you buy a product or service through one of these links, I might be paid a small commission at no additional cost to you. If you purchased something through one of my links, I truly want to thank you. You have been keeping my website alive.
What Email Marketing Is
Have you ever been to a website and somewhere along the line you find a pop up page or a form to fill in, that requires your email address? Sometimes they offer something for free or give you a discount on a product if you agree to let them send you occasional emails. That is email marketing.
It’s when you get customers to subscribe to an email list for your website or blog through a sign-up form. That way, you can keep them up to date on future happenings on your blog, you can use it to remind them to buy a product that they were looking at or any manner of things you want to achieve. It’s a way to stay in touch with your visitors and make sure that they come back.
If you want to see an example of what one of these sign-up forms can look like, scroll to the bottom of this article and you will see my own sign-up form that I made using Benchmark. Don’t judge, I am also still starting out and it may not look too pretty, but you’ll get the idea.
Now, why exactly is this important, you may ask.
Why Email Marketing Is Good For Your Online Business
The reason why all those other bloggers kept talking about email marketing, is that it truly is a magnificent tool to help your business or blog grow. Every time someone signs up to your email list, you know you can bring that person back to read another article, or buy another product. They are already interested, now you only need to inform them when you have something new and chances are, they’ll come back.
This is a way to keep your revenue flowing and also to help your customers in a more personal way. People feel happy when someone acknowledges them. When you send them an email, they feel a connection to you, and feel like they receive personal help, instead of just reading a post you may have written two years ago.
When you offer a customer that personal help, they will likely respond better to it, and will be more likely to finish a purchase or return at a later stage if they need anything else that you provide.
As you can see, it is a really good idea to start investing in email marketing, if you want happy customers every day.
But what does email marketing require of you, you might be wondering.
Benchmark Email Sign-Up Forms
One of the two big things that you’ll need to know about when it comes to email marketing, is the sign-up forms. You won’t get any subscribers, if they have no way of joining your list. Don’t worry if you have no design experience though, you won’t need it here.
With Benchmark, they have a wide range of templates. All you need to do, is pick a template that you like and customize it to meet your needs. When I say customize it, I mean you can add your own logo, color scheme, theme, different boxes, an incentive, a funny picture or anything else you would like. The choice is all yours and it’s easy to achieve with drag and drop capabilities.
Whatever your style is, you can make a form to suit it and keep your brand image constant. The possibilities are endless and are only limited by your imagination. So, make sure to bring your creativity with you.
Email List Building With Benchmark
The next thing you need is a list to send emails to. You actually need different lists to send different emails to, because not everyone who visits your site is after the same thing.
Luckily, you can easily do this with the help of the tools provided by Benchmark. These tools allow you to easily see from where your customers subscribed to your list and then divide them into different sections based on these analytics.
Next time you send a promotional email, you can just select a certain group of people to send it to, so you can make sure that your emails are always reaching a relevant audience.
Your First 2000 Subscribers Are Free!
The reason why I love using Benchmark above other email marketing services, is not because I think the other services are bad. In fact, I will admit that there are better ones out there. I choose Benchmark though, because I am new and I am broke, and Benchmark offers a free membership until you reach 2000 subscribers.
2000!! And by the rate I’m going, I’ll probably never reach that so, I’ll keep paying nothing for sending emails and creating as many sign-up forms as I want to.
Please don’t think the way I do though, because you can reach as much success as you want to if you work hard for it. I’m just feeling discouraged today.
Anyway, to get back on topic, you are allowed to send a total of 14 000 emails a month and have 2000 subscribers. You are not obligated to switch to a paid membership, but you can anytime you want to from the moment you join, If you do decide to upgrade you’ll get access to a bunch of enterprise features.
Let’s look at the other options and their features, shall we.
Other Membership Options And What They Mean For You
There are seriously a lot of options you can choose, depending on your needs. They have custom plans to fit everyone, so take a look at some of your options.
If you have a small to medium business or blog, you can either get away with it for free, or you could get a small membership plan that allows you to send unlimited amounts of emails every month, but have a certain amount of subscribers. The prices will look like this:
If you have a large business or blog with a few more subscribers, you’ll be looking at a little higher cost a month, but I’m sure by now you’ll have some revenue flowing, so you won’t have a problem. You’ll look at something like this:
Now when you are running an extra large or massive company, I don’t know why you’d be reading my small little posts. But let’s say you run a blog or business with a subscriber list of 200k plus, you would be looking to pay just about as much as I make in a year. Take a look:
I am not going to go into detail into what exactly each one of these plans offer you other than what you see here, because let’s face it, you’d be sitting here reading this post for days.
If you are interested in one of the bigger plans, go ahead and visit the website to see what you’ll be getting. I promise you, it is well worth the money.
Additional Features You Can Buy
Apart from the features you already receive with your membership, you have access to a few extra ones that you can buy separately. These features are:
- List verification – $3.00 for every 1000 contacts
- Image hosting – $5.00 monthly for unlimited hosting
- Dedicated IP – $28.95 monthly
- Inbox checkers – $14.00 for 100 tests
Find out more about these on the website.
Speaking Of Money…
Instead of telling you how you’re only going to lose money, I am about to tell you that you can make money with Benchmark too.
When you sign up for any account with Benchmark (even the free one), you’ll get access to their Partner Program. This allows you to advertise Benchmark to your visitors or even to your friends and receive a commission every time someone buys a membership.
This commission is recurring, meaning that, as long as they keep paying a monthly fee, you’ll keep receiving a commission on that every month. If you were wondering, that is what I am doing right now (I really do use Benchmark for my emails though).
So, just use their banners, text links or any other resources that they have and start earning your money back. It really is a good investment.
Don’t Be Afraid To Try New Things (Even When They Seem Scary)
If you are like me, you might be scared of change. You might think that you are not capable of achieving all these things you read. But I am here to tell you that you are. It might be scary, and you might doubt yourself at times, but you have no idea what you could do if you really put some time and effort into it. Try it, you might be surprised.
As for Benchmark, if you like what you read here, or have given it a try, let me know what you think. I love reading comments, so feel free to leave some, or you can connect with me on any of the social media platforms you see below. Ask questions, share stories, and share this article with your friends if you found it helpful.
It’s because of you and people like you that I can keep doing this, so thank you.
